The history of wood veneer spans centuries. Even in ancient Egypt, the process of veneering was an established technique for efficiently handling wood. With Egypt being primarily desert and timber extremely scarce, wood was a rare and highly prized raw material. The veneer process was developed in order to showcase and best utilize this treasured resource.
The hardwood logs recovered by DeadHead Lumber Company are almost exclusively veneer grade. Veneer grade is the highest quality log available and is taken from the first cut of the tree where it is the largest, straightest and branch free. Logs used for the production of veneers are carefully selected according to size, growth rate, color, figure and natural character marks.
Our select veneer is utilized for furniture manufacturing, flooring, piecework, architectural panels, yacht interiors, musical instruments, etc. We keep a large inventory of veneer logs and custom slice, splice and cut to your specs.
